If anypony owes somepony a life debt, it's Rarity for that one time when Rarity had wings, and then they got ruined, and then Rainbow Dash saved her from plummeting to her doom. After a lightning strike renders Dash unconcious and sends her falling over the edge of a cliff, Rarity is the only one around to save her.

I did this for the artist training grounds at EQD, where the prompt was to draw a pony following the noble dragon code. I experimented with my process this time around to try to focus on value and contrast. The story may have worked better as a series of panels, but I wanted to try and convey as much as I could in a single image.

For a brief instant, I thought Rarity was going mad and threw Rainbow Dash off the cliff.

I was concerned the reason she was falling was actually Rarity's doing until I had a better look at the image.
A little tip; if she was hit by lightning, perhaps a little burn mark on either side of her body the bolt hit or smoke or something that will identify her as being struck by lightning and ultimately the reason she's falling.
-otherwise it gives the impression Rarity was responsible.

RD has helped save most of them, the least they could do is promise to help if she ever needed it ;)

Thanks for the advice! I completely forgot to add the burn marks and a few stray feathers. That would have helped a bit. I struggled trying to convey a whole series of events in a single image. Maybe I was being a little optimistic in what I could actually pull off.

Actually, it would work well if you went back and added burn marks/loose feathers. It would make a lot more sense seeing as how:

If the burn marks had been a result of Rarity attacking Rainbow Dash, she would not be then using her magic to save her. So it points to the lightning behind her being the reason for her fall. Plus 'A Debt Repaid' automatically points to Rarity saving her life as Rainbow Dash has never done anything terrible to her.

It's amazing how something as little as that changes the whole picture ;)
